Solving problems by finding values that satisfy a set of restrictions.
A constraint satisfaction problem contains variables, possible values for each variable and rules that restrict which combinations are allowed. The objective is to find an assignment that satisfies every required condition.
This framework is used in timetabling, route planning, workforce scheduling, resource allocation and puzzle solving. Efficient solvers reduce the search space by eliminating impossible choices before testing complete solutions.
